Repeat Prescription

If you have a regular prescription for the same medication(s), try not to run out and please order repeat prescriptions in plenty of time. Requests should be in writing, preferably by using the computerised tear-off slip attached to your previous prescription, or you may fax your request to 01372 470622. Remember also that you may order online if you have registered for this service. Click on the gateway on our homepage. We require 48 hours to process your prescription.

Prescriptions may be collected from the surgery, posted if an SAE is enclosed with your request, or from one of the pharmacies mentioned on the tear-off slip. Again, allow plenty of time for your prescription to be ordered/dispensed by the pharmacist. Telephone requests are not accepted (unless patients are housebound or over 70) as this may lead to mistakes being made.

Please note: if you are issued with an NHS hospital prescription this must be filled from that hospital's pharmacy. Your GP is not responsible for drugs initially prescribed by a hospital doctor, but will take over responsibility for ongoing repeat prescriptions providing that the drug proves suitable for you and is licensed for community prescribing.

Prescription drugs abroad: If you are travelling outside the UK (for up to eight weeks) the doctors will continue to prescribe your usual medication. If your travels are to be for a longer period please discuss this with your GP. However, NHS prescribing is not allowed for drugs intended specifically for use abroad, such as antimalarials and medication for traveller's diarrhoea. You may ask for a private prescription for such medications.
